The seven Sacraments are at the heart of Catholic life. Instituted by Jesus Christ and entrusted to His Church, they are visible signs of Gods invisible grace. Through the Sacraments, Jesu continues to strengthen, heal, forgive, and nourish His people at every stage of life.
The Catholic Church celebrates seven Sacraments, grouped into three categories:
Sacraments of Initiation
- Baptism – Welcomes us into God’s family, washes away original sin, and begins our new life in Christ.
- The Holy Eucharist – The source and summit of Christian life, where we receive the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in Holy Communion.
- Confirmation – Strengthens us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, deepening our commitment to live as faithful disciples.
Sacraments of Healing
- Reconciliation (Confession) – Offers God’s mercy and forgiveness for sins committed after Baptism and restores us to full communion with God and the Church.
- Anointing of the Sick – Brings spiritual strength, peace, healing, and God’s grace to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or preparing for surgery.
Sacraments at the Service of Communion
- Matrimony – Unites a man and a woman on a lifelong covenant of faithful love, reflecting Christ’s love for His Church and strengthening them to build a holy family.
- Holy Orders – Through the ministries of bishop, priest, and deacon, Christ continues His work of teaching, sanctifying, and shepherding His people.
At St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, we are honored to accompany individuals and families as they prepare to receive the Sacraments. Whether you are seeking Baptism for your child, preparing for First Holy Communion or Confirmation, planning a Catholic marriage, or returning to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we are here to walk with you in faith.
If you would like more information about receiving a Sacrament or beginning sacramental preparation, please contact the parish office. We look forward to helping you growing your relationship with Jesus Christ through the grace of the Sacraments.
