The Parish of Saint Maximilian Kolbe is honored to care for three Catholic cemeteries that serve as sacred places of prayer, remembrance, and hope in the Resurrection. Our cemeteries provide a peaceful resting place for the faithful departed while offering families a place to visit, pray, and reflect on God’s promise of eternal life.

Catholic cemeteries are more than burial grounds; they are holy places that reflect our belief in the dignity of every person and the communion of saints. We invite parishioners and visitors to spend time in prayer for those who have gone before us.

Saint Thomas Cemetery is closely connected to the history of Saint Thomas Church, which was incorporated in 1868 and has served the Catholic community of Thomaston for more than 150 years. As the Catholic population of the area grew during the nineteenth century, a dedicated Catholic cemetery became an important part of parish life, providing a sacred resting place for generations of parishioners and their families,

Today, Saint Thomas Cemetery stands as a testament to the faith, sacrifices, and perseverance of the men and women who helped build the Catholic community in Thomaston. Walking among the graves, visitors encounter the names of families whose lives helped shape the town and parish for generations. The cemetery is carefully maintained to provide a respectful and prayerful environment for families visiting loved ones.

Saint Thomas Cemetery also offers columbarium niches for the interment of cremated remains, providing families with a dignified Catholic burial option while preserving the Church’s tradition of honoring the deceased.

Saint John’s Cemetery is closely connected with the history of Immaculate Conception Church and reflects the rich Catholic heritage of Terryville and the surrounding communities. Established to serve the growing Catholic population in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the cemetery became the final resting place for many immigrant families who brought their faith traditions to the area while working in local industries and businesses.

The cemetery preserves the memory of generations of Catholics who worshiped in Immaculate Conception Church in Terryville and contributed to the growth and development of the town. Its monuments and memorials tell the story of the faith-filled families who helped build both the Church and the community.

Visitors are encouraged to spend time in quiet reflection, remembering those who have gone before us, praying for all the faithful departed.

St. Mary’s Cemetery is also closely connected with Immaculate Conception Church and shares in the long and proud history of Catholic life in Terryville. For well over a century, it has served as a sacred place of burial for parishioners and their loved ones, The cemetery reflects the enduring presence of the Catholic faith in the community and the generations of families who found spiritual guidance and support through the parish.

Among its graves are the resting place of parishioners whose lives witnessed to the values of faith, family, hard work, and service. The cemetery remains a place where history, memory, and prayer come together in a spirit of hope and remembrance.

St. Mary’s Cemetery also features columbarium niches for the interment of cremated remains.

Together, St. Thomas Cemetery, St. John’s Cemetery, and St. Mary’s Cemetery preserve the history of the Catholic people of Thomaston and Terryville. Their grounds tell the story of generations who built churches, raised families, celebrated the sacraments, and lived their faith with devotion.

As Catholics, we believe that death is not the end but the doorway to eternal life in Christ. Our parish cemeteries bear witness to this hope and provide sacred spaces where families can honor loved ones, remember their lives, and pray for the repose of their souls.
