About Confirmation
Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Christian Initiation, together with Baptism and First Holy Eucharist. Through Confirmation, the baptized receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, strengthening them to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ and active members of His Church.
In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the bishop, (or priest delegated by the bishop) anoints the candidate with the Sacred Chrism and says, “Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.” This sacred seal deepens the grace received at Baptism, strengthens our bond with the Church, and equips us ti witness Christ through our words and actions.
Preparing for Confirmation
At St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Confirmation preparation is offered through our Faith Formation Program for students who have completed the required years of religious education and are ready to continue their journey of faith. Preparation includes catechetical instruction, prayer, participation in the Mass, service opportunities, and spiritual formation to help candidates grow in their relationship with Christ.
Adults who have been baptized but not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are encouraged to contact the parish office at office@stmkp.org.
Sponsors
Each Confirmation candidate chooses a sponsor who is a fully initiated Catholic. Sponsors serve as spiritual mentors, supporting and encouraging the candidate in living a faithful Christian life.
