The Congregation of the African Benedictine Sisters of Our Lady Help of Christians MCP, 2026.
The Congregation of the African Benedictine Sisters of Our Lady Help of Christians founded in Tanzania on 6th January 1946. This congregation was formed by the Benedictine Monks from Germany St. Ottilien Congregation, under the leadership of the late Abbot and Bishop Joachim Amman of Ndanda Diocese in cooperation with the Tutzing Missionary Benedictine Sisters. The Mother House is in Ndanda, Mtwara Region in the Catholic Diocese of Mtwara, Southwest of Tanzania. Our congregation is doing its apostolate work within and beyond Tanzania. Our Congregation works in the Archdioceses of Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Mbeya, Mtwara, Lindi, and Tunduru-Masasi. It has also extended its apostolate in the USA and Pemba Diocese in Mozambique.
The motto of the congregation is “ORA ET LABORA”, which means the Congregation follows the rule of St. BENEDICT – ‘PRAY AND WORK’, Our congregation has the following apostolates: –
1. Evangelization: spreading the Gospel News (the Gospel) to all people. In our area we a facing some challenges as a majority of the population are Muslims.
2. Social work for youth and women empowerment. Caring for the sick, orphans, and the elderly.
3. Education; training vocation center, provision of education to the community in need.
4. Teaching Catechesis from kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, colleges, and universities, without discrimination of color or religion (diversity).
5. Agricultural and livestock-husbandry.
This appeal is going to help our Congregation in the following areas: –
a. To dig a borehole to get safe and clean water at our schools and centers, community, and the village people nearby. Sometimes alligators or lions are killing people when they go fetching water to the streams and the water is contaminated.
b. To provide basic human needs for orphans and street children at St. Leonard Pre Primary School (Narunyu) and later plan to extend another center in Ndanda Mother House, amounting to US$ … to which the monies will be used in purchasing food, clothes, shoes, medication, building materials, and other school supplies.
c. To renovate our Monastery that was built in 1940s. Such as fixing old and rotten windows, kitchen, roof and water pumps.
therefore, as a Congregation we are coming to you this Sunday asking for your kind generosity to us so that we can accomplish these goals of this MCP 2026 in supporting water, basic human needs and renovation. As we are going to have our second collection you can show up your generosity by donate in cash or check if you donate via check, please remember to write at the memo the name of this parish but remember to write for MCP 2026 or for the African Benedictine Sisters. With your support, we can make a difference.
