Lector Ministry

The Lector Ministry is a vital part of the Church’s liturgical life. Lectors are called to proclaim the Word of God during the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Through prayerful preparation and reverent proclamation, they help the faithful hear and reflect on God’s message found in Sacred Scripture.

At St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, our lectors serve with faith, dignity, and devotion. They proclaim the First and Second Readings, lead the Prayer of the Faithful when appropriate, and assist the congregation in entering more deeply into the celebration of the Eucharist. A lector is more than a reader-they are entrusted with proclaiming the living Word of God to the assembly.

The ministry is open to practicing Catholics who have received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, actively participate in the life of the Church, and possess the ability to read clearly and confidently in public. Lectors are encouraged to prepare prayerfully before each Mass by reflecting on the Scripture readings in advance.

Serving as a lector is a meaningful way to share your gifts and deepen your relationship with Christ through His Word. Whether you have previous experience or are discerning this ministry for the first time, Training and guidance are provided.

If you feel called to serve as a lector or would like more information about joining this ministry, please contact the parish office at 860 283 5817 or email office@stmkp.org. We welcome those who desire to proclaim God’s Word with reverence, faith, and joy.
