What is the Legion of Mary?
The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with well over 3 million active members in almost every country in the world. It was started in Great Britain. As a Presidium in September 1921 and became active in the United States 10 years later. It has been approved by the last six Popes and endorsed by the second Vatican Council. A local Presidium was started in Terryville in February 1973 and has been active ever since. The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members. The Legion of Mary seeks to lead the people we encounter in our works to a greater knowledge and faith in God and to increase the faith and holiness of our own members through prayer and service to Our Lord.
All are welcome to join our weekly meetings each Tuesday, at 10AM in St. Casimir’s Church Hall.
